It is must to have a qualitative outer covering of the bag so that it can handle the constant punching and physical abuse of the prationer. Thereby using leather or vinyl helps to increases the durability of the punching bag. The inner content that is used to fill the bag is generally sand, maize or grains. The content is filled in the bag to make it stiff and hard to hit. Thus it gives the boxer the practice to hit and hit it hard so that when he actually gets down in the ring to box with the opponent it gives him that level of practice and stamina. The heavy punching bags are generally hooked up at the ceiling in such a manner so that an eye contact is possible with the practioner. An eye level contact is good to have as it also gives proper positioning to the hands as well to box.

Heavy Punching Bags

As mentioned in the characterisitics of the punching bag that the outer layer requires to be tough and durable so that it can handle weight and physical abuse for a longer duration, though it is important to have such quality level for the punching bag to serve the purpose but at the same time it becomes a thing of caution for the practioners. First of the young atheletes should practicing on these heavy punching bags as it requires huge effort by the bones to hit the bag and for younger ones they are still to develop themselves and their bones are yet to become stong with time thereby it is not advisable for them to practice boxing or martial arts on these bags.

Secondly for adult atheletes as well though they should practice on these bags but they even need to take care of certain things as in when they box they need to wear proper leather made heavy gloves to avoid any kind of bone damage or fractures and even proper distance needs to be maintained with the punching bag which is generally taught as a part of training. Moreover one should keep the wrist straight while hitting the bag and should use more of middle fingers avoiding the side thin ones that cannot handle much weight.Until and unless one has got professional training or bit of guidelines on how to practice on the punching bags one should not take a chance by trying it out by being totally unknown.
